I've recently discovered the world of Roller Derby! A high speed, fast paced, full contact skating sport. Roller Derby was concieved in the 1920's and had it's revival in 2001. Since then over 300 amateur teams have been formed worldwide. Since accidently stumbling upon it just over a week ago, I can't get enough of it. Whilst learning more about this awesome sport, I found these really visually striking posters advertising the sport. The posters seem to have been influenced by many different artistic styles, such as Art Noveau and most notably the rock poster phenomenon of the 1990's.
Recently purchased the majority of my kit, and I even managed to buy a helmet with the distinctive style of the 1990's - Take a look at this!
The UK Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) are running a competition to design their logo, I thought this would be a perfect time to get involved artistically aswell as physically with promoting the sport. My team The Hellfire Harlots have also approached me to do some recruitment posters for the team's Roller Derby Recruitment month starting the 5th of october.
